9th Annual ANCHOR Awards

The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce’s 9th Annual ANCHOR Awards was held on August 9th, 2017, at Pelican Landing Conference Center in Moss Point.  The ANCHOR Awards was created to honor, reward and celebrate the achievements of outstanding small businesses and non-profit organizations in the community. The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber’s Small Business Issue Manager Group recognize that small businesses and non-profit organizations are the “anchors” that make the community successful.  The 2017 ANCHOR Awards was chaired by Clayton Legear, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of Merchants & Marine Bank.  The Small Business Issue Manager Group is led by Trudi Dixon.

 

Troy Ross, President of the Jackson County Board of Supervisors, was this year’s Keynote Speaker.  Troy Ross is married to Lauren Ross, and they have four children (Sophie, Joseph, Michael and Luke).  Ross is a graduate of the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.  His background includes Board President for 2017 and 2014; Board Vice-President for 2013; Jackson County Board of Supervisors elected for the 2012-2015 term; Alderman-At-Large, City of Ocean Springs; Company Commander, Mississippi Army National Guard; and Scout Platoon Leader, Najaf, Iraq, Mississippi, Iraq.  Ross is a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Ocean Springs.  He has served as Chairman of the Jackson County Republican Party.
