Workshops, Mentoring Programs and More!

Entrepreneurs wishing to start a business in Jackson County, Mississippi, will find it easy to navigate through the rules and regulations set forth by the cities, the county and the state of Mississippi.  Individuals should start at the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce to receive a toolkit for starting your small business.  The kit will include contact information for area resource centers and ways to certify minority, women-owned and veteran-owned businesses with the state of Mississippi.  The kit will also include class schedules for entrepreneur workshops and the United States Small Business Resource Guide for small businesses.

After meeting with the chamber staff, individuals are encouraged to visit the city of their choice (location of the domiciled business) to secure a one-stop-shop list of permit information, building requirements, licenses and other information critical to the formation of a successful business endeavor.  Individuals will also need to register with the county and make plans to check with the state of Mississippi for information regarding incorporation and other licenses pertinent to the type of business.
